Free Days at Museums

San Francisco is a great place for arts and culture. There are lots of different museums for people to enjoy in this city, and the great part about it is that most of them offer free days during the year. This post will be a compilation of some of the more popular museums that do free days.

The Exlploratorium has a community day once a year where the admission is entirely free. This year it will be held on Mother's Day on May 10th, 2020. You can also visit "after dark" for a cheaper admission price which is every Thursday night from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (you must be 18+ to attend at this time).

This art museum is one you have to pretty periodically check in on their website to see when they will announce one because they don't have a designated day that it is free. Their most recent one was this month on March 1, 2020. They have yet to announce when the next one will be.

The de Young Museum is an interesting museum with unique special exhibits and lots of discounted days. On the first Tuesday of every month there is free general admission to the public. Every Saturday the museum is free to all Bay Area residents (all you have to do is prove your residency with a license or mail). They will also do free admission on certain days for their special exhibits and these are always updated on their website.
